I will say that you can tell this shoe was made by a climbing company. Ive been meaning to write a review ever since I bough these a year ago.
I decided to make the switch to the Evolv Cruzer.
Evolv cruzer shoe review. Nice light very low profile approach shoe. I was basically looking for a shoe with the flexibility of a martial arts shoe with espadrille-like uppers but with a more substantial athletic sole. A great minimal approach shoe.
Even at size 14 they are light and small enough to clip to your harness on multi pitch routes. Lighter and smaller than the 510 Guide Tennies but less supportive and less protection to your soles over sharp terrain. Hikes less than 2 miles without heavy loads multipitch climbing descents.
In the end I couldnt find a shoe to meet all my needs and my budget but the Evolv Cruzer is the lightest-weight harness-able shoes I could find. The Evolve Cruzers are only 15 oz. Compared to the the Five Ten Womens Guide Tennie weighing in around 1 lb.
I decided to make the switch to the Evolv Cruzer. My initial purchase of these shoes ran a size small but getting them traded out was no problem. I will say that you can tell this shoe was made by a climbing company.
The shoe is perfect without socks but a little snug with even the thinnest summer weight athletic socks. I dont climb much but I do jump rope in them and walk in them a great deal. The Evolv Cruzer Psyche is the most unique shoe in this review which makes it somewhat challenging to write about.
Its low numerical scores undermine its excellence in both weight and cost. Sole of the Evolv Cruzer The softer sole and snug fit of the Cruzer also make for a shoe that feels extremely precise. More so in fact than any other approach shoe Ive worn especially clunkier do-it-all approach shoes like the 510 Guide Tennie or Salewa Mtn Trainer.
As advertised the shoes serve a multi purpose roll as an approach shoe and are stylish enough to wear out on the town with shorts or slacks. On rock I was particularly impressed with how sticky the soles were. Exceptionally light and compact Evolvs Cruzer Psyche is the way to go when you expect to spend most of the day with your approach shoes in the pack or clipped to your harness.
This of course means that they excel on multi-pitch climbs that require a walk-off but theyre also good for the crag and I even as a hut bootie. Evolv Cruzer Psyche left and Cruzer Classic The Psyche features the same canvas upper as the Classic but adds an additional canvas liner and stitching throughout that add some heft to the shoe. Sure its not much but the result is a notable move away from the stark minimalism of the Cruzer Classic.

Ive been meaning to write a review ever since I bough these a year ago. I wear 75-8 and decided to buy the 75. These shoes have amazing grip which makes them great for hiking on rock.
I use these for the approach in Hueco Tanks and have been a game changer. They allow you to walk very securely on rock. The Evolv Cruzer has gotten a lot of good press and might bridge the gap and satisfy type 1 standards too.
Guide Tennies arent heavy but you can get lighter with trail-running shoes if you dont need to climb in them so much. There is of course a range for each type and the ranges probably overlap.
